Parade Season
Our Parade Season runs from May β August and includes 7th β 12th graders playing instruments and performing in the Color Guard. We always march in the PG Strawberry Days parade and then we choose a couple of other parades to march in each year (Lindon, American Fork, Provo Freedom Festival, etc).
Competition Season
Our Marching Band is made up of 9th-12th graders playing instruments and performing in the Color Guard and runs from late July β early November. At PGHS, students get PE credit for participating in Marching Band. Visit umea.us to see our competition schedule and scores for the 2023 season.
Winter Drumline and Winter Guard
We also have a Winter Drumline for 9th-12th graders for percussion students and Winter Guard for 7th-12th graders (a JV team and a Varsity team) that runs from January β April. Visit the Color Guard page for November 2023 tryouts for our Winter Guard for 7th-12th graders.
If you love band, thereβs always an activity for you at PGHS!
Photo Release Instructions
These are Skyward Photo Release Instructions to allow us to put your student’s photo on any school website (pghsbands.com, pleasantgrovevikings.com). If you DON’T want your student’s photo on any school website, do not follow these instructions.
- Go to https://skyward.alpinedistrict.org/ and login with your parent/family account. You CANNOT do this on your student’s Skyward account. If you don’t know how to login, contact PGHS or PGJHS and ask for instructions.
- On the left side menu, select Student Information Update
- On the pop-up menu, select your Student’s Name
- If you aren’t brought to a page of steps to take to complete your student’s information, choose Go back to review completed steps
- Go to Step 4, Student Personal Information Release
- There are TWO boxes that need to be checked:
- Under Directory Information Release, find “I Understand that the above information may be provided to outside entities for the purposes described above.” This box needs to be checked to allow us to post your student’s photo on websites.
- Under School and District Web/Social Media Release, find “I Agree (The school or district may publish-in electronic format- my child’s projects, photo/video, comments, and name. I understand that this information will be available on the Internet (please note that this does not replace the district’s Acceptable Use Policy or imply permission to use Internet services).” This box needs to be checked to allow us to post your student’s photo on websites.
- Select Edit Step 4 or Next Step when finished. Keep paging through the steps and complete the process.
Photo Release Approval
We have to provide a list of students with their grades and ask the office to verify that the school has approval to share these students’ photos. We can post group photos (without this verification) if a student isn’t identifiable, but we usually opt to not use photos that have students who aren’t pre-approved. So, if you don’t see photos of your student on the band websites, please check your Skyward photo approval settings. And, please feel free to submit photos from events to Alyson Mansfield at [email protected]. I’d love to include your student in band website posts.
Thanks for your help!
Band Event blogposts/write-ups
If you’re able to help write a blogpost about a band event in which your student participates, please contact Alyson Mansfield at [email protected]. I don’t get to all the events and I don’t have time to write-up blogposts about all the events I do attend. If you can take photos at an event and send me a write-up and some photos, I’d be happy to add it to the band websites. Or, if you have WordPress experience and are willing to help with website articles, please contact me. We’d love to do a better job representing all of the PGHS Bands and activities.
